What is a chef’s coat called? There are three main groups of uniforms worn by chefs all over the world. The first one is called a chef’s uniform, then there is a fry cook uniform and finally there are whites.
You may be surprised to know that not all chefs wear the same type of uniform, but they all have the same overall goal: to keep the chef looking professional and clean while working in the kitchen. In addition, these uniforms are designed to protect the chefs from kitchen accidents and spills.

A chef’s uniform is an essential piece of clothing for a professional restaurant chef or caterer. This uniform usually consists of a jacket and pants with a long bib-style shirt that covers the front of the pants. A chef’s hat will also be worn to cover their head and keep hair out of their face while they work. The jacket is made from durable cotton twill fabric and has two large pockets on either side to hold utensils. The pants are also made from cotton twill fabric or denim and have an elastic waistband with drawstrings for adjusting the waistline.
